Glass ball
The core material of glass beads is glass, primarily made from silica as the base ingredient, with the addition of sodium carbonate (to lower the melting point) and calcium carbonate (to enhance stability). Some beads may also contain small amounts of colorants—such as metal oxides like iron, cobalt, and chromium—which impart colors including red, blue, and green. Glass beads exhibit excellent light transmission, a brittle texture (easily broken upon impact), moderate hardness, low cost, and lack any special functional properties.
